Where to watch Tour De France 2014 in London

What a great summer of sport we have in London this year.

The Tour de France Stage 3 arrives in London on Monday 7 July. This is a great opportunity for Londoners to be part of the biggest sports event in the world.

The 200 competitors will enters Greater London from Cambridge via the Epping Forrest (see map below) and will pass through Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and head towards Central London. As with previous high profile cycle races through the city, the route will take the competitors through the most famous landmarks in London:  Tower of London, Tower Bridge, House of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.

The last stretch will be through St James Park, Buckingham Palace and ends at The Mall.

Best Places to Watch Le Tour in London

The best places to watch the race is at Canary Wharf, the Royal Docks, City Airport and Lea Bridge Road through East London.

TFL say: “For the best views you can follow the Central line on the Tube that will take you to sites in Redbridge and Waltham Forest within walking distance of the route. All those places on the Lea Bridge road will look fantastic.

Aspen Way in Canary Wharf I’d also recommend as riders will be on the elevated section. The race will get there about 3.30pm. We expect a finish at the Mall at 3.40pm-4pm depending on how fast the riders are going for the full stage. The forecast is for a fast race as it is flat the whole way. Watch it locally because that involves the shortest journey.”
